Bob Bergen: Not Just Another Pretty Voice

"A voice actor, who dreamed his whole life to giving voice to
famous cartoon characters, puts on a hilarious one-man show." -- L.A. Times

Stepping out from behind the microphone, Bob Bergen, one of the leading voice-over artists in Hollywood, opened his one-man show February 7th, 2000 at the Whitmore-Lindley Theater Center in the NoHo Arts District of Los Angeles, CA, to rave reviews. Bob can perform this show at conventions in 30, 60 or 90 minute formats to fit your programming schedule. It’s a great, fun show for anime and cartoon fans.

BOB BERGEN: NOT JUST ANOTHER PRETTY VOICE, is the story of a young man who wanted to be Porky Pig -- from the time he was 5. It was a goal Bergen never wavered from and which he achieved shortly after the death of the legendary Mel Blanc, the original voice of Porky Pig. It is a story fraught with perils -- perils before swine, in fact, as Bergen faced disbelieving and shocked family members (“Ya wanna be what...?”); crusty and cynical casting directors (“Kid, why do you want to do this to yourself?”) and pompous and pretentious ad agency producers ("We want you to be ONE with your frog"). But it is, finally, a story of triumph as man becomes pig and a little boy's dream of porkhood becomes a grown man's reality of residuals.

Essaying 34 characters through the versatile vocal manipulations he is well known for, Bergen takes his audiences on the sometimes surreal trip of his life and career, as well as on a stopover to board the tram during one of his early "day jobs" -- that of a Universal Studios Tour guide.
